When we nourish ourselves we nourish the whole family
Intense motherhood demands intense self care

When we step into Motherhood, we unknowingly step into the most exhausting, depleting, and challenging era of our life.
We become the heart of the home — the nurturer, the sustainer, the comforter. We sacrifice our body, our energy, our identity.
We were never meant to carry so much alone.
But we do, because 'the village' is largely in tatters, support is sparse, and elders are few and far between.
So we keep going, keep giving, keep nurturing, keep loving. Often with no let-up or headspace.
We hide the stress and the overwhelm, the overthinking, the anxiety, the grief.
And we collapse into exhausted oblivion each night, only to get up and do it all again tomorrow.
Until one day we realise: we've burned out.
Burnout doesn't feel like "I'm really tired."
It feels like "I don't know who I am anymore. There’s nothing left of me”
Meanwhile our children are watching. They see our frayed edges when we are stressed or overstimulated. They see us running on empty — not nurturing or valuing ourselves. Giving to everyone else, and not replenishing ourselves.
My deepest prayer is for mothers to be supported, nourished, loved, and rooted in their sacred worth
(which starts with valuing ourselves btw)
The more we nourish and value ourselves, the more we can show up to be the safe, loving, aware presence that our children need and deserve

Motherhood burnout broke me. I was so busy trying to go faster, be more efficient, and get more done, that I wasn't looking after myself at all.
I was stuck in the coffee - sugar - wine spiral. Coffee to wake me up, sugar for energy, and wine to relax in the evening.
I was constantly in flight or freeze; depleted and running on fumes. I was developing chronic health issues. My weight ballooned, my skin was full of breakouts, and my mental health was at an all time low.
I knew I was in trouble, but I couldn't see a way out, so I just kept going.
My rock bottom was being so exhausted I fell asleep driving to school, to pick up my eldest two (with my youngest two asleep in the back). The result was a near head on collision at 50mph and both cars were written off. I was later charged by the police and given a driving offence in court.
Consumed with shame, my reality hit me in the face, and I realised I could not keep going the way I had been.
If I didn't turn this around, my kids wouldn't have a mother.
The entire atmosphere of the home rests on the energy and nervous system of the mother.
Our children grow up in that energy. Nourish it
And so I made a conscious decision to turn my health around, and get back to a place of energy and vitality and calm.
I began looking after myself like my life depended on it.
I built a practice of simple daily rituals that began to change the trajectory of my health
I knew I needed to calm my nervous system, rebuild my energy at the cellular level, and sort out my sleep
Later, when I came to write it all down,
I noticed the framework spelled out C-P-R.
Maybe it sounds naff. But I LOVE it, because these tools literally feel like they are breathing life back into you.
This framework helped carry me out of the darkest times, and into lighter brighter times.
Slowly but surely I rebuilt my sense of self and my vitality.
It's that framework that I'm sharing with you

There is a Japanese Proverb
“If you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station. The longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be.”
Don't wait until you hit rock bottom, like I did.
Start loving and nurturing yourself right now.
At first I didn't notice that I had more energy. I just noticed that stuff seemed to be getting done more easily. Thats how I knew it was making a difference.
Instead of being stuck in overwhelm, or task-paralysis, or even despair, over the mess in the house, I found myself doing quick whip-rounds to tidy up.
Instead of absolutely dreading dinner time, and barely managing to put fish fingers in the oven, I found myself chopping vegetables and making nutritious food for the kids.
Instead of leaving my purse, house keys, and plates of buttered toast on the car roof in the morning before driving off to school (yes I have done all of those things) I found myself handling everything seamlessly.
Instead of waking up feeling like I'd been run over by a truck, I found myself awake and alert before the alarm.
Most importantly, I was beginning to remember who I was. My resilience was returning. So was my sense of humour.
